Posted: 22 Feb 2010 02:38 PM PST I work for a US based company that has operations in India. We have sourced and interviewed a young woman who would be a great fit for the position we are recruiting for. The position is management level. The position will not be located in our India corporate office location, but will be remote and will have to manage mostly male workers at one of our vendors. We want to be sensitive to Indian business and cultural norms and therfore, my question to this group would be is this situation workable? Would we be putting this young woman into a situation where she would have trouble being successful given remote location and gender. I want to make sure we do the right thing for all involved - this is my first exposure to recruitment in India. Any guidance / input would be welcome. |

Nightmares of PF withdrawal - legal action Posted: 22 Feb 2010 01:40 PM PST It came as a shock this morning when my employer, refused to process my PF withdrawal. I didn't serve notice period and they are taking this as a reason for not signing the PF form. I told that my mom was unwell and had to go to mumbai for well over three months. Now they are asking for tickets proof of I travelling and also Moms medical certificates. I am unable to provide these and I am sure irrespective of whether i submit or not, they still have to sign my PF. I very well know, they are going against the Law. They have no right to do this. I have five years of PF with this company even though i only worked for 6 months with this company, I transferred 4 years of PF of my previous employer. So its quite a lot of money. I can always have the PF by contacting bank manger or other means as mentioned in the PF instructions form. I have endlessly read how Employees are taken for a ride by employers when it comes to PF withdrawal. I have decided to take legal action against the employer. The very reason of my post is to take suggestions from yourself, and know the options I have, to take legal action against My ex employer. Who can I contact? I am ready to go to a lawyer and thinking about involving media as well. I am really made up my mind to go any distant to get justice and make my case an example for erring Employer's. And when I take legal action, how likely Am I to win? Please provide me with help. Thank you. |

Confused about this gratuity case?? Posted: 22 Feb 2010 11:47 AM PST Dear All, Mine is a typical case!!Guide with your wisdom!! I served Indian Army as an officer for 7 and half yrs. Got Gratuity. (say Rs. 1 lac) Joined another organisation of Government. Here the rule was that I could count my Army Service towards penion if Army Gratuity is paid to them. This is as per civil service rules.I served for 6 yrs. and left before I was authorised pension.I received Gratuity only for service rendered in Second Service Assignment i.e. for 6 yrs. My ex-organisation is silent about returning my Army Gratuity to me. I say that it has to be returned to me as the second org has no right over it as I am not claiming/authorised pension. WHAT SHOULD BE THE TOTAL GRATUITY RECEIVED BY ME- (a) Army Gratuity plus Second gratuity? (b) Only Second Gratuity? (c) Gratuity as per total service of 71/2(Army) plus 6(second org)=13 and half yrs as per last pay drawn in second org? Pl post yr replies asap. From KALYUG. |
